LEGISLATIVE WORK

Working for us in Olympia

My goal in serving our region is to effectively advocate for Eastern Washington values and interests in the Legislature. I have demonstrated my ability to build relationships and work well with members of the majority party. One of my first priorities, within weeks of taking office, was to bring remote testimony to the House committee system to make sure Eastern Washington residents voices could be heard in the process. I worked with fellow freshman Rep. Jared Mead and, together, as the youngest members of our respective caucuses, introduced a bipartisan resolution to begin remote testimony to House.

I serve as the Ranking Member on the House Education Committee where I have pursued policies such as mandatory financial education for all high school graduates, improved literacy instruction and inclusion of parents in their student’s success.

I’ve also been elected by my colleagues to serve on the House Republican leadership team as Assistant Floor Leader, where I help coordinate debate strategy and work to make sure our rights under the House Rules and Constitution are protected during debate.

I’ve had numerous bills signed into law. As a lawmaker who believes in being responsive to all residents of our district, I’ve sponsored legislation on topics ranging from K-12 and healthcare to water rights and elections. When I see something in state government that isn’t working, I work to fix it.

It has been my honor to serve us over the last 8 years. I hope to have your support for another 2-year term as I continue to work for our region collaboratively and respectfully.
