MENTAL HEALTH
Mental health issues are often times the root cause of some of the toughest and heartbreaking issues we face today. School violence, homelessness, and suicide are just a few problems that I feel can be addressed, to a large extent, by early intervention and proper treatment for individuals struggling with mental health challenges.
I served on the Community and Technical Colleges Counselors taskforce and sponsored the bill to bring peer to peer counseling testimonial privilege to Department of Corrections staff. This bill is now law.
